Surgery for Weight Loss

Health experts contend that weight loss surgery is a “major surgery.” One of the most common reasons why people would like to lose weight is to enhance their physical attributes. However, it should not be the underlying motivation that they should undergo the process of weight loss surgery.

What people do not know is that weight loss surgery is especially generated to help obese people live longer, healthier, and better.

That is why it is important for an individual to meticulously analyze his or her situation, do some research about the process, and analyze if weight loss surgery is the ultimate choice for his or her physiological condition.

Moreover, it is important to gather further information about weight loss surgery by consulting an experienced and knowledgeable bariatric surgeon or even just an expert family physician who knows the ins and outs of weight loss surgery.

In addition, the patient should also consult the other health experts such as the psychiatrist and dietician with regards to some psychological advices on long-term goals after the operation.

Generally, patients who have undergone weight loss surgery are said to be successful if they were able to lose 50% or more of their extra body weight and will be able to maintain that condition for the next five years or so. However, the results of the operation may still vary depending on the clinical information of the patient and the skills of the bariatric surgeon.

Normally, the patient will be able to lose at least 30% to a maximum of 50% during the first six months after surgery; and within the year after the operation, the patient has the potential of losing weight up to a maximum of 77%.

Best of all, people who were able to loss weight through surgical operations can actually maintain a continuous weight loss of up to 50% to 60% in the next 10 to 14 years after surgery.

Start your Weight Loss Mission Today

"I'll start eating healthy tomorrow" or "I'll start my diet Monday" is something that I think most people have said to themself at some point in their lives. The fact is that losing weight long term is only going to happen if you don't think of it as a 'diet'. If you deprive yourself of foods that you love then you are just going to want them more. You need to think of your weight loss journey as long term and as 'healthy eating'. Everything in moderation is they key. Do not plan out a 'diet' and say "I'll start Monday". I have always found that the simplest way to lose weight is to not even think about it. Just cut out certain foods and eat more of the good stuff...starting today!

Drink Water to Lose Weight

You have probably been told over and over that water is the key to losing weight. In actual truth, water is not going to 'make' you lose weight. However, what it will do it clean out your system and help you in becoming more healthy which in turn will help you lose weight.
Another great thing about drinking a lot of water is that is helps give you a filling of fullness. Before each meal and between meals drink a glass or 2 of water. I guarantee that it will help you feel full and in turn, you will eat less leading to weight loss.

Easy but Very Effective Ideas to Help you Lose Weight

Take Short Walks
Just a short 15-30min walk 3 times a week makes a bigger difference to weight loss than what you may think. If you cannot invest time for a leisurely morning walk or an evening stroll, take quick walks wherever possible. Park your car a few blocks away from the destination and then take a walk towards your destination. Even during lunch time, try to walk a few paces in your office.

Use Stairs Instead of the Elevator
Whenever possible take the stairs instead of the elevator. At most, it will cost you an extra 5-10mins of your time. Climbing stairs helps to reduce excess flab, especially stomach fat. Climbing a four storied building twice or thrice a day is an excellent weight loss method.

Ride a Bike
If work is not too far from your home consider riding your bike to work. If not, you can ride a bike for about 10-15 miles on weekends. Riding is not only fun but brilliant for weight loss and toning your legs. Make sure you pack enough water and snacks when going for a long ride.

Join a Gym or Fitness Classes
Joining a gym will ensure that you stick to a strict exercise regimen and have the help of professional instructors for, if not anything else, motivation. Joining a group fitness class such as yoga, can also motivate you for losing more weight. Fitness classes are a great form of exercise and weight loss, as is yoga. Yoga is fantastic for achieving a toned body.

Dance Class
Dancing helps a great deal in reducing weight. Dance forms such as salsa are gaining huge popularity as new quick weight loss techniques. Not only does dancing help to lose your weight, it also tones your body and boosts your confidence. Plus, dancing is so much fun!

Adventure Sports
Spare a weekend for adventure sports such as river rafting, horse riding, scuba diving or bungee jumping and see the difference yourself. Adventure sports require you to exert yourself physically and mentally, thus it results in weight loss.

Walk Your Dog
Walking your dog is a great way to lose weight. Not only is the dog getting its required exercise, but you are getting yours and walking is the best form of exercise for weight loss. Fast Weight Loss

Many people like the idea of losing weight fast. Fast weight loss is not the healthiest form of weight loss, but it is possible. On that token though, it does not mean that after losing the weight you can start eating junk. If you use a method of fast weight loss it is important that you continue with a healthy eating plan. Otherwise, there is a risk that you will just put the weight straight back on. Further, it leads to a series of yoyo dieting.

Whatever the reason for you wanting to lose weight fast, you still need to think of it as long term. Do not expect to lose a heap of weight fast and then eat whatever you choose. The way to go about it is to lose the weight fast to begin with but then continue with your weight loss, or maintain your weight with a healthy eating plan. A healthy eating plan does not need to be a diet per se but rather a sensible eating plan that will maintain your body weight.
